In a previous design role, I was asked to manage an interior design project consisting of designing an office space. The scope included a networking lounge, conference rooms, team workspace, and lobby area. Due to very limited funding and small budget I had to be incredibly creative and mindful of how to best execute the project. I started with recreating the floor plan using AutoCAD/Revit, then brought the project into SketchUp, where I was able to quickly 3D model the space. I created a mood board, conceptual presentation, and a detailed PO/expense report. I stayed under budget and successfully completed the project which is now the focal point of the office floor.

During my time as an interior design assistant, I aided in various boutique and commercial hotel projects that included lobby, meeting space, corridor, and guest room redesigns and refreshes. I helped with all aspects of these projects from start to finish while serving as a main assistant to the senior interior designer. I was also given the responsibility of creating custom artwork, graphics, and rendered mockups for client presentations.

Due to confidentially and privacy agreements at the time of employment, I am unable to disclose what properties I assisted with, nor am I able to show any specific work that I created. While these are actual photos of the properties I worked on, I do not own any of these images and they are available to view publicly online. All credits go to its rightful owner.

The purpose of this interior design project was to create a modern living room space within a small one bedroom apartment, all while sticking to a strict budget of $10K. My process consisted of creating an initial conceptual sketch, creating a mood board, drawing the floorplan in CAD and exporting into Sketchup. I then 3D modeled the space to give a visual display of the room.

The purpose of this project was to use my interior design skills to renovate a historical building and create various sized lofts. Choosing to showcase the single bedroom loft, I used an industrial design style for inspiration. I started my design process with some rough sketching, later using one to make a physical model of the space. Next I drafted a CAD file that I used for the space planning and furniture placement. The last part of the process was to create a 3D render and focus on the interior design elements.

This purpose of this project was to create a 3D rendered private office that could be shown to potential clients. I chose to design the office with a rustic-modern style, as I was inspired by my passion of exploring the outdoors.

In my advanced interior architecture class, we had to create a proposal for renovating Veihmeyer Hall, an existing building on the UC Davis Campus. Two elements we had to focus on were a student review space and a theater addition.

For the review space I wanted to have flexibility, so I implemented the use of moveable furniture, keeping the room as an open space..

The theater was more challenging as I had to fit in a certain number of seats, while keeping to building codes and regulations. The final result was a theater with an observable second story and a double sided entrance and exit.

This project was aimed at strengthening my 3D modeling and rendering skills. I had to create a 3D model of a building that was hosting an art exhibition and render the space to make you feel like you were actually there. I wanted my space to feel like you were taking a walk through nature, so I chose to feature pieces of my favorite wildlife artwork.

In developing my physical modeling skills, I had to create a functional 9’x9’ living cube that could accommodated the basic activities and function of a modern lifestyle. These included, but were not limited to: eating, lounging, studying, and sleeping. I chose to make a cube where each side was designed for a specific function. I designed the cube to be modular and closed-off, making it suitable for small spaces and easily transportable.

To enhance my lighting replication abilities, I was given the challenge to create an identical 3D rendering of a photograph that incorporated artificial lighting. I chose to take a picture of the inside of an elevator, as most are fitted with fluorescent lighting. I modeled the space in Vectorworks and rendered it in Artlantis Studio. Can you tell the difference?

While studying at UC Davis, I participated in Solar Decathlon 2017, a collegiate competition, comprising of 10 contests, that challenges student teams to design and build highly efficient and innovative buildings powered by renewable energy.

Our house focused on water conservation that could benefit the agricultural residents in the Central Valley. My team had to research technology designed to reduce water consumption that would be installed within the house. We came up with several ideas, one including an external lighting display of the house’s water usage (green for low, yellow for moderate, and red for high).

To better understand how 3D models are made, I was given the challenge to deconstruct a 3D object and reconstruct it using simplified polygonal shapes. Using an advanced model of Kirby, one of my favorite Nintendo characters, I first brought it into the program Rhinoceros, where I proceeded to deconstructed and flatten the model. I created puzzle pieces that I laser printed and put together, resulting in a simplified physical model.

To strengthen my print design skills, I had to redesign, print, and bind my own version of the book “Design and Play,” by Paul Rand. This project taught me a great deal on how books are designed and printed.

While working as a freelance graphic designer, one of my clients, a local coffee shop, wanted to see how I could help them rebrand their business. They asked me to design a new logo and show how I would implement it across their store. I came up with two designs, the first being a more modern style, while the other being more classical.

Starting as a series of logos designed in a similar style, Mossy Moose became my first successful attempt at creating a personalized brand. I focused on a four layer design that included two primary, and two secondary colors. I wanted the logo to be in a modern style, so I chose to minimize the amount of details and create a sense of boldness using different line weights.

While working at an architectural firm, I was put in charge of of a middle school exterior paint project that included creating new wall graphics, an updated logo and mascot, and a new color scheme.

While working for IKEA, I was presented the unique opportunity to create proposal showcasing what the graphics and branding package would entail in the organizations partnership with DoorDash. I compiled a proposal guideline and create various artwork files that would be distributed throughout the US based store locations.

Berkeley SkyDeck, UC Berkeley’s leading startup accelerator program, hosts a biannual Demo Day event, where the teams in the program present to the SkyDeck community. This past Demo Day was it’s largest one yet, held in the Pauly Ballroom on UC Berkeley’s campus with over 350 investors, Industry partners, and SkyAdvisors in attendance.

In preparation for the event, I was given the assignment to create various marketing material including a new handout that provided information about the teams, the program, and the SkyDeck fund. Additionally, I created partner boards, banners and signs, and various online marketing material.

As Berkeley SkyDeck continues to grow, the company felt it was time to create official branding guidelines to explain how the SkyDeck brand should be used. The guidelines include what fonts and colors are to be used, how to properly orient the logo, and which form of the logo should be used with different applications. As Berkeley SkyDeck’s main graphic designer, I worked on updating the existing logo and creating new pieces of artwork to be used in various applications (slideshows, websites, social media, etc.). Shown here are some examples.
